Teen Abuse of Nitrous Oxide is becoming an Epidemic
Every year more and more cases of drug abuse from Nitrous Oxide have been reported in teens and pre-teens. It’s easy access and short lived euphoria has made it the drug of choice for many teens looking for a quick high.
It is reported that 15% of kids between 12 and 17 have used Nitrous Oxide as a drug inhalant. The most popular way of purchasing of this drug is though a whipped cream or best whip supply store. These teens buy the cream chargers and the whipped cream dispenser to use as an inhaler. They then put their mouth on the end of the whipped cream dispenser and breathe in the Nitrous Oxide.
This drug is known as “laughing gas” or a “whippets” among the teens as it produced a short-lived state of euphoria. As there are no immediate side effects, that does not mean that the drug is not harmful. Long-term side effects include brain depletion and respiratory problems.
This drug may seem funny to the teens, but it is no laughing matter. If you suspect that a teen you know is using Nitrous Oxide as a drug, be sure to notify their parents and if they seem unresponsive, then be sure to notify the police.
